Respect area closures, know before you ride. To avoid problems, look at the map link here and judge your riding accordingly, Tickets will be issued if your found guilty of riding in a closed area.

Out of state riders must get a permit to be on our groomed trail system. This permit supports grooming local trails. They are available online, and at Steins IGA as well as the Booze & Bait in Troy. A complete list is available online at: http://fwp.mt.gov/parks/recreation/snowmobiling.html

The Kootenai NF and Idaho Panhandle NF have released a summary of the comments that they received during the 120-day comment period on the Proposed Land Management Plans (PLMPs) for the Kootenai and Idaho Panhandle National Forests.
